Hall of Fame Inductee - John Katerenchuk

Biography

John Katerenchuk was inducted as the 11th member into the SPN Hall of Fame on Saturday, Nov 17th at the Slo-Pitch National annual general meeting in the “Umpire’s category”.

John began umpiring in 1986 and became involved with SPN in 1989. John hosted annual umpire clinics throughout Alberta as well as attended clinics across Canada while he was the National UIC. In addition to his 5 years as the National Umpire-in-Chief, John has attended 16 National Championships in the capacity of Umpire, UIC or SPN Representative.

John credits several past Hall of Fame inductees such as Sharon Sinclair, Jackie Sheppard and Al Moulton for getting him involved with the SPN umpire’s program. His contributions to the Alberta and National umpires program are recognized through this induction into the Umpires category in the Hall of Fame.

John is now enjoying retirement with wife Nancy in beautiful British Columbia where not surprisingly, he and his umpire’s gear have found their way to the local slo-pitch diamonds.

Slo-Pitch National congratulates John Katerenchuk on his induction into the SPN Hall of Fame.
